Exterior of the house with caption 'A cracking time at Bletchly Park'.

During World War II, Bletchley Park was home to Britain's codebreakers including the renowned Alan Turing, and played a unique and major role in producing intelligence that affected the outcome of the war.

Brass mechanism of cogs and levers.

At the height of the codebreaking effort almost 10,000 personnel were stationed at Bletchley Park and its surrounding buildings.

The site now offers visitors the chance to see where the code breakers lived and worked, the Library and wartime garages complete with WWII vehicles.

Film & TV

Featured in films and TV programmes, including the Oscar nominated film 'The Imitation Game' - Bletchley Park currently has an exhibition about the making of that film featuring costumes worn by the stars and behind the scenes gems (exhibitions may change). A fascinating look into a once-secret world. Part of the campus also appeared in the 2001 film 'Enigma' starring Kate Winslet, which was based on the book by Robert Harris.

Bletchley Park featured at the end of Ian McEwan's television play 'The Imitation Game' in 1980 and in 1999 was popularised further by the TV documentary series 'Station X'. The television series 'The Bletchly Cirle' also added to the awareness of Bletchly Park.

Museums

Also of interest are the adjacent National Museum of Computing, where you can see a rebuilt Colossus computer, and the RSGB National Radio Centre which includes a radio station, library, museum and bookshop.
