This 4-hour shore excursion offers a delightful glimpse into the heart of Kent, the "Garden of England," combining stunning coastal scenery, award-winning wines, and the historic city of Canterbury. Your private transportation will greet you at the Port of Dover, offering a choice of comfortable vehicles to suit your group size (from an MPV and classic London Black Cab to spacious 16-seater minicoache).

Dover White Cliffs

We begin with a refreshing walk along the iconic White Cliffs, where on a clear day, you can see across the English Channel to France. Take in the breathtaking views and capture memorable photos of this natural wonder. Learn about the cliffs' historical significance, from their role in wartime defense to their enduring symbol of English resilience.

A Toast to Kentish Wine

Located in the south-east of England, the county of Kent is known as the "Garden of England," benefiting from a warmer and drier climate. Throughout the county, orchards are plentiful, and hops (the buds we Brits put in our beer) can be seen all around, as can the oast houses with their strangely conical and pyramid-shaped roofs. Recently, British vineyards have been winning accolades, often competing favourably with their neighbours across the Channel. We have an opportunity to stop by and sample some wines before heading off to Canterbury.

Three-quarter view of towers and spires with ornate carvings.

Our final destination is the magnificent city of Canterbury, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you'll be captivated by the grandeur of Canterbury Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Marvel at its soaring towers, intricate stained glass, and rich history.

Canterbury's story is intertwined with the dramatic tale of Thomas Becket, whose martyrdom in the cathedral shaped English history. Our guide will bring this fascinating story to life, explaining the significance of Becket's shrine and its impact on the city. We'll also explore Canterbury's connection to Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales," evoking the spirit of the pilgrims who journeyed to the cathedral centuries ago. Enjoy a short walk through the charming city center, perhaps along the banks of the River Stour, before we return to Dover.

We'll ensure a timely transfer back to the Port of Dover for your onward journey. Throughout this enriching shore excursion, your knowledgeable guide will bring the history, culture, and landmarks to life, all while you travel in comfort in your private vehicle.

Pricing

Our prices are based on the vehicle you choose, not the number of passengers. This means the more people in your group, the more economical the trip becomes for everyone! To get a personalised quote, simply let us know your group size and the type of vehicle you'd prefer.
